Adding Contacts on Launch Pad

  1. On the yL launch pad, click on "Contacts" in the top tool bar and select "Search/Add Contacts", or click on second “blue” button at the bottom of your launch pad.
  2. A Search/Add Contacts window will appear. Select one of the search methods and click on "Search ".
  3. Click and highlight the user you intend to add and click on "Add Contact.”
  4. You may modify the message before sending it to the user.  Then, click on "Send Request " to ask the user if they will accept you.
  5. Click on "Finish" to end the process.

Adding Additional Contacts to a One-on-One Call

  1. While you are on a one-to-one call with another user, one of you can invite a third user to join the call.
  2. Click on invite button () on the top of your window.
  3. Click on the contact you want to invite into the conversation and click on the "Add" button.
  4. The new party appears in the chat window with his/her ID, picture and nickname. Simply click on call button () to include him/her into the call. The other user will also have to click on the call button to join everyone together.
  5. You can add up to three people besides yourself on a call from this window.  If you want more people to talk, you should bring everyone into your 10-person chat room.

Adding a LiveRoom onto your Favorite List

  1. In the User Function Area, click on "Add Favorite" button to save the current LiveRoom onto your own favorite list.
  2. If the "Add Favorite" button is grayed out, it indicates that the LiveRoom is already in your favorite list.

Arranging Contacts on Launch Pad

  1. Your contact list has two pre-defined contact groups: default and stranger. All the new contacts you add are listed in the default group. Click on the "Contact" tab and then the expand button () to expand the contact list for viewing.
  2. You may create new groups using "Contacts->Group-> Add Group". OR right click on a group name and select “Add Group”.   Same format goes to edit and/or delete groups.
  3. Enter the group name and description in the popup window. Click on "OK" to complete the creation process.
  4. To move a contact to a different group, simply left-click, then drag and drop the contact's nickname from one group to another group in your contact list.
  5. You may also make changes to an existing group. Click on the group you intend to change.  Use one of the two methods from above. Enter the group name and description in the Edit Group window. Click on "OK" to complete the modification process. Note that the pre-defined groups cannot be modified.
  6. To delete a group you have created, simply select the group you intend to remove. Use one of the two methods from above. Note that you have to move out or delete all the contacts before a group can be deleted.

Audio/Video Calls to Contacts on Launch Pad

  1. On the Launch Pad, click on the contact you want to call, which will highlight the name.
  2. You can use one of the three ways to bring up the chat window:
    • A. Click on "Actions" -> "Audio/Video Chat"
    • B. Click on the Green “button on the bottom of your Launch Pad.
    • C. Right-click on the highlighted contact and select " Audio/Video Chat " from the dropdown menu.
  3. During the audio/video call, you may adjust the microphone and speakers or headset volumes using the sliders next to the mute buttons.  You may click on those two buttons to mute the devices, respectively.
  4. While talking on your audio/video chat, you may still use all the text functions.

Block/Unblock/Delete Contacts on Launch Pad

  1. There are two ways of blocking a user from bothering you.
    1. Left-click on the user's nickname on your contact list to highlight the user. Then, click on "Actions" and select "Block this user" in the dropdown menu.
    2. Right-click on the user's nickname on your contact list and select "Block this user" from the popup menu.
  2.  After the above operation, the user's nickname has the phrase "(Blocked)" appended to it, and he/she cannot text chat or call you until you "unblock" him/her.
  3. To unblock, simply follow the same procedure as described above and select "Unblock user."
  4. To Delete Contact, simply follow the same procedure as described above and select “Delete Contact.” This window will appear to verify you want to delete your contact.  Once you click “OK” the contact will be removed from your Launch Pad.

Online Status

  1. To setup or change your own status to Online, Away, Busy, Invisible or Offline, follow one of the following procedures:
    1. On the yL Launch Pad, click on "File" and select "Change Status".  A drop menu appears to change your status. 
    2. On the yL Launch Pad, click the small arrow to the right of your picture/icon.  A drop menu appears to change your status.
    1. From Windows system tray at the bottom-right corner, left-click on yL icon. Then, click on the new status you want to select from the drop-down menu.

Personal Profile

  1. To view/edit your own profile, simply click on "File" in the menu bar and select "My Personal Profile" from the dropdown menu.
  2. An alternative way of opening the profile window is to click on your own picture/icon/nickname area at the top of Launch Pad
  3. The personal profile window appears with one of the above operations.  Click on the "Standard Profile" button on the left column of the profile windows to edit your standard profile contents.
  4. Click on the button to right of your icon to change and select a new one.
  5. Click on the "Other Information" button on the left column to edit your other profile contents.
  6. Click on the "Security Settings" button to change your password.

Problems Connecting with Other Users

  1. If another user cannot connect with you successfully, you should see a red light on top of his/her video. The red light can also indicate a problem to hearing each other.
  2. In User Function Area, click on "Retry All Connections" button.
  3. yL will try to reconnect with any other users who are not connected with you yet.

Sending Files

  1. You may follow one of the following five steps to send a file to another user:
    1. Left-click on the user's nickname on your contact list to highlight the user. Then, click on "Actions" and select "Send Files" in the dropdown menu.
    2. Right-click on the user's nickname on your contact list and select "Send Files" from the popup menu.
    3. Highlight your contact then click on send files button () and the bottom of your Launch Pad.
    4. In a text chat or call, click on send files button at the top of the window. ().
    5. In a text chat or call, open window explorer and select the file for transfer. Click on the file name, drag and drop the file to the chat window. You can skip right to number 3 if you chose this option.
  1. After you have completed one of the above procedures and transfer file window will apprear.
  2. Click on the file you want to send and click on "Open" button. The progress windows appears.
  3. It will let you know when the file has been transferred successfully and you can close the window.

Setting Your Options

  1. From your Launch Pad, select “Tools -> Options”
  2. General Tab -> Select the options that you would like upon Login.
  1. Status Tab-> Here you can
    1.   You can elect to have yL change your status automatically for you.
    2. You can add/delete custom Quick Reply messages to your launch pad to use during text chats.
  1. Privacy -> Here you can privatize your contact list.  Decide if you want everyone on yL to contact you or only accepted contacts on your list.  You can block and unblock users from here.
  2. Notifications->Select your display and window settings.
  3. Sound Alerts-> Select all your sound settings.  The orange button (*) allows you to listen to the sound selected.  The pink button () resets the setting to the default sound.  The green button (*) allows you to select your sound for that setting.  See below.
  4. Click on the green button (*) and the window below comes up.  Here you can pick from list of sounds or browse for your own. 

Talking in a LiveRoom

  1. In the User Function Area, click on "Request Mic" to obtain a microphone for talking.
  2. Use "Cancel Mic" to release the microphone.
  3. You may use "Set Sound" button to select the source of your audio stream among different available devices on your PC. You may use this function to play different music or recordings to the LiveRoom audience.
  4. Video On/Off: To turn on or turn off your video

Texting with Contacts on Launch Pad

  1. On the Launch Pad, click on the contact you want to call, which will highlight the name.
  2. You can use one of the three ways to bring up the chat window:
    1. Click on "Actions" -> "Text Chat"
    2. Click on the Purple “T” button on the bottom of your Launch Pad.
    3. Right-click on the highlighted contact and select "Text Chat" from the dropdown menu.
  1. From the window, you can text with your contact.
  2. During the text chat period, you may change the text font, style, size, and color of the message you send out. Click on the Set Font button () to bring up the font settings window.
  3. You may also select an emotional icon ("emoticon") to send to the other user. Click on the Emoticons button () to select from a list of available emoticons.
  4. There is also a list of pre-defined phrases for quick response to save you time spent typing. Click on "Quick Reply" button () to bring up the list of phrases. (Note that the list can be redefined/modified from the Launch Pad by clicking "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Status" -> "Quick Reply Setting.")
  5. Click on the Chat History button while you are in a chat () and it will take you to your chat history page with that contact.
  6. To make an audio/video call to the same contact you are chatting with, just simply click on the phone button () to make the call.

Texting in a LiveRoom

  1. Text Chat Input Area: In the text chat input area, you may select either "All" or one of the LiveRoom participants to talk with. You can keep chats with a single LiveRoom participant private by checking the "Whisper" checkbox.
  2. Text Chat with an Action message : You may select an Action message while sending a text message. The message that appears in the common chat room text areas will display your text message along with your Action message.
  3. The "Set Font" (), "Insert Icon" (), and "Quick Reply" () buttons work exactly the same way as described in " Texting with Contacts on Launch Pad.”

Web Cam and Headset Configuration

  1. On the yL Launch Pad, click on "Tools" and then select "Media Settings".
  2. The following "Audio and Video Setting" window pops up.  Click on "Next >" to move to the next page.
  3. Click on the down arrow and bring down the camera list. Select the camera you would like to use and click on "Next >" to move to the next page.
  4. Adjust the focus of camera and check if the video is working well. Click on "Next >" to move to the next page.
  5. Click on "Next >" to move through the pages.
  6. Click on the down arrow for microphone/speaker and bring down the device list. Select the audio device you want to use, respectively. Click on "Next >" to move to the next page.
  7. Click on "Click to Test Speakers" and listen to the speakers or headset for the test sound.  Adjust the volume with the "Speaker Volume" slider bar, if necessary. Click on the "Stop" button to stop the test sound. Click on "Next >" to move to the next page.
  8. Speak to the microphone and see if the volume level is okay. Adjust the volume with the slider bar if necessary. Click on "Next >" to move to the next page.
  9. Click on "Finish" to exit from the setup process.
